Hilton Garden Inn Lincoln Downtown/Haymarket

Coffee maker in the room with something that I would expect in Motel 8 The quality of the meals in the restaurant was not very good for the price. It took quite a while for us to get our meals, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Sure would have like some softer Kleenex. I know there are better Hiltons out there. Just haven’t gotten to one in Lincoln yet.

This is not a favorable review of this hotel. This is also not an indication of how the staff treated my wife and I….they were friendly and keep the clean hotel. I posted a picture of a sign located between the elevators at this location. I have been a loyal Hilton traveler for many years. So much so, that I am now Lifetime Diamond status at Hilton properties. I have tried all the brands in the Hilton chain many, many times. I would’ve told you the Hilton Garden Inn promise displayed by the elevators was true for HGI properties all over. It is not true for this location. I’ve stayed at this property countless times and about 6 times this year. Today for three days. 2 weeks ago I was in Lincoln for 3 days…I stayed here. I really liked this location for along time, but no more. I am going back to the Embassy Suites. It is a much nicer hotel at a similar price point. If you are looking for a slightly lower price, the new Hampton Inn near the airport is terrific. Save yourself the underwhelming experience here, the inflexible management policies and the failure to deliver on the HGI promise they display. If you really need to be in Haymarket, the Courtyard Marriott across the street is terrific. I held a meeting for 60 people there 2 weeks ago (though I stayed at this hotel) because this HGI didn’t return our calls in a timely manner. For the experienced Hilton travelers, understand your Diamond benefit at this hotel won’t pay for your breakfast any longer. The customary Diamond benefit of free water is no longer provided at this hotel. I have NEVER received an upgraded room at this hotel, though I’ve asked…booked with the Diamond desk and, yes the upgrade was available when I requested and during my entire stay. The benefits available at almost every Hilton property simply fall short here. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, try one of the many fine hotels located around Lincoln. You will find a much better experience than you will find at this Hilton Garden Inn in the Haymarket.
